What’s in a name? That which we call a Rose…..

I have been asked a few times, where I got the name Untamed Rose from.

In short… it’s a tattoo.  Wait wait, hear me out. I know that isn’t a real classy answer, but it’s the truth.

See when I was 18, I had graduated and decided I was going to join the Navy and see the world.  I was going escape the horrid atrocities of home, parents, and the small country town I grew up in. The world was my oyster! I was going to go out; claim it, see it, and experience it all! With a little luck and sweat, I would conquer it!   I just needed my ship, and I would sail away to some great adventure! Become a hero and live out my wildest dreams!

Now part of me knew, I had to grow up and I knew what…most folks end up when like they grew up. They give up these dreams of conquering and changing the world for a 9 to 5 jobs they hate, they give up freedom for order, and they give up their passion for security. They loose that spit fire, that adventurous spirit…I didnt see that passion in so many of them “old” folks. I didnt want to loose that.

(please note this is coming from the teenager POV, btw I love you mom!)

So on an impulse, I had the word “untamed” tattooed on my hip. There, I was marked with a solid irreversible oath to myself! I would forever be a strong free spirited women!

About a year later, now in the navy and everyone does tattoos in the navy. I decided it needed something more. So had full red rose added to it, along with a bud and some leaves. The full rose for the woman I was, the bud for the woman I would become and bloom into…the future always holds a greater promise for what is to be. Red roses are love, beauty but most importantly…they are passion the fire of life.

So a red rose for my passion and untamed for how it could never be taken away from me.

When it came to naming my company, it really was the only logical choice. I wanted people to look at my work and feel the fire, see the passion, and imagine the whole world(or universe in the case of the starry nights) Plus I had these wonderful glass roses I had worked so hard at developing.

What other name could these roses possibly have?

P.S I did kept that oath to myself. I may be much older, married, with two kids. My life didnt turn out exactly as I had dreamed…but I still have my passion and fire in my spirit. I still fight for what I believe in, I still crave and have adventures.   I’m still working on conquering world. I will let you all know when that happens ;) Life is good.
